One key part of this relative verification cost is that generative models produce plausible output. It’s not accurate to say a model produces “correct” or “incorrect” output, or “makes mistakes”. It does exactly what it’s designed to do: produce output that is statistically related to the input prompt, in some way. That doesn’t mean “statistically correct”, just “statistically related”. All output is correct, in the sense that all it’s suppose to be is a point in the distribution of things related to the prompt.
